Mission
The archives’ primary role is to support the work of the University's administration, departments, and colleges by ensuring that all records of potential historic and administrative value created by the University's administration, departments, and colleges are identified and selected for permanent preservation in the Archives. Thus, the primary responsibilities of the University of the Philippines Archives and Records Depository (UPMARD) are the following:
- collects, organizes, and preserves archival materials that contribute to the growth and development of the University of the Philippines Manila;
- arranges and describes these historical materials according to archival principles and makes them available to its users, except access is restricted by legal requirements or written agreements with the creator or donor;
- provides adequate and appropriate conditions for the storage, protection, and preservation of archival material;
- expedite access and support for reference needs;
- provides useful documentation of the policies, aims, great individuals, achievements, and events of the U. P. Manila; and
- supports research, preservation, and conservation programs, exhibits, outreach, and publications related to the University’s documentary history.
